A Thanksgiving without turkey sounds like no Thanksgiving at all to many people. Now that I’ve been vegetarian/vegan for three years I’ve finally convinced my own family that, yes, I am perfectly happy without turkey for the holiday. Of course I have no problem with them cooking and serving one, I just don’t partake of it!

In this section you’ll find some vegan and vegan gluten-free alternatives to the quintessential bird. Each dish is simple, easy to make, and extremely flavorful–and yes, they are all squash dishes. Winter squash is the perfect alternative in that you can find butternut and acorn squash local and fresh at your grocery store, market, or food co-op, and hearty enough to stand on their own, each squash-based dish will wow and please your guests who will think you spent hours slaving over it. In fact, as with a turkey, your oven will do most of the work for you! All you need to do is slice and glaze or slice and stuff, the place in the oven. The, voila!, a delicious, roasted alternative to the Thanksgiving turkey.

Hi, I am really glad to have found your blog. I am vegan (as best I can…cheese creeps in there from time to time). And being vegan cooking for the holidays is a drag. I just can’t get excited about it. So this demonstration is coming at just the right time! I will see you on Wednesday. Way to go with the blog!
